Who we are
Who We Are is a called people. Called to Christ- Called to His Church, and Called to His Cause.
The Yorba Linda Vineyard began in September of 2006. Sean and Christy have been in the Vineyard Movement since the beginning, back in 1977. Both of them came out of the Friends Church, a Quaker church here in Yorba Linda. People often think the Vineyard Movement came from a Calvary Chapel, when in fact, we are Quakers at the root of who we are, and Vineyard roots are Quaker roots. Sean and Christy grew up next door to each other and were married in February of 1990. Since then, both worked for Vineyard Ministries International, as well as Vineyard Music for many years. In 1997 Sean began 'Doin' The Stuff,' a ministry that contains John Wimber & other materials from around the world. We have recently made our church site the main avenue for John Wimber information and materials.
Christy directed Vineyard worship conferences and training under VMI, and then Vineyard Music when it was birthed. Christy has been traveling for years teaching at various events through out the world. She has 5 book releases and also works with CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network] working with Gordon Robertson on various T.V programming. They have two children, Camie Rose Wimber and John Richard Wimber II.
It was in 2006 where various people around the world began coming to Sean & Christy with words and dreams confirming this work the Lord was going to do in Yorba Linda. Carol Wimber installed Sean & Christy and commissioned them early on, and then again on February 25, 2007, the Vineyard's Regional Leader came and corporately blessed our church. We love that this took place on what would have been John (Wimber's) 73rd birthday.
Our first service was spent cleaning the bathrooms at various businesses in the city. The Lord had spoken to Christy that this was going to be an 'inside out church' and the focus would be on the people and serving the communities. Since the inception of the YLV we have moved into 5 different locations and in January of 2011 moved into our current building.
Who we are, is a group of people hungry for God, and for community. Who we are, is a people that desire not to just do church; but to rather be the church. We know it's God's plan and He said He will build the church; and our job is to reach out, serve and bless our communities. We have great passion for the whole church and we love coming together in worship! We value learning the Word of God not just in words, but also in demonstration of Gods Kingdom power. We believe our highest priority in worship is not to just build a big building, but rather to be a place of mission!
We want to be a place that serves our communities through various social services. Our desire is not to build walls to keep the city out, but rather have a place where the communities are welcome to come and receive what they need and to participate with us as well.

It will tell so much of who we are and what were doing as a church family. We also encourage you to look through our Yorba Linda Vineyard Resource Center. This is a huge part of who we are and what we do as a people as we offer several forms of social outreach and justice to our communities.
